Tour
Diary
8/16 Memphis | 7:24PM
Last night's venue was pretty cool. Think Frederick's Music
Lounge minus the singing deer head and lingerie everywhere, and imagine
it's got a view of the Cumberland River and Titan's Stadium, and
that's what you've got.
I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty fried today. I've
entered into a stretch where I really won't see a familiar face until
September 1 or just before. The first week of the tour was
easy on a personal-comfort level. I stayed at friends' houses
and whatnot. Now the honeymoon is over and I'm sleeping in
my car and on the floor of the act I'm playing with. Tonight
doesn't look promising, I'm the only act...
I went to Sun Studios today but showed up just after the last tour
started, so tomorrow I think I'll do the tour. Might as well. It's
pretty cool, even in the gift shop. They've got all kinds of
historic pictures, and a 12-track console that U2 used to record
Rattle and Hum on the wall. Downtown Memphis looks like
downtown Nashville. Memphis by the Beale Street area next to the
river is really amazing.
I'm at the venue now, MO's. There's a movie about to show, Elvis
Meets The Beatles, since today is the anniversary of Elvis'
death-day. So we'll watch that, and then if these three ladies
stay in the building, they'll see me play a half-hour set.
