What do you want out of life? Think about it,
really. Fame and fortune come quick to the tongue, but strip away
the pretensions. There you’ll find Geoff Koch, a singer-songwriter
who gives voice to those universal truths and desires. Seeing the
sun set on the Grand Canyon. Swaying in slow motion with music
as gentle as the truth. Setting yourself on fire for a girl who
needs a light.
In his year and a half on the performance circuit, this St. Louis–based
artist has released both an EP (Throwing Rocks at Your Ghost)
and live album (Live at the Lucas School House). He’s played with such
well-respected acts as Clem Snide’s Eef Barzelay, Owen, and Stephen Kellogg & the
Sixers. This spring, he won the People’s Choice Award for Best Singer-Songwriter
in the St. Louis Music Awards. He’s also garnered honors, awards and kudos
from The Recording Academy, International Songwriting Competition and Billboard magazine’s
Worldwide Songwriting Competition.
Every single performance is an event, despite the fact that Geoff’s just
one guy—albeit with an arsenal that includes guitar, harmonica and piano. “I
think my live show delivers someone who feels,” says Geoff. “I
remind people that they, too, are capable of universal emotions that, for whatever
reason, sometimes escape them as life takes its course.” Geoff’s
music reminds us why we love…and who we’ve lost.
Through Geoff’s accessible yet poetic lyrics, we, too, are
able to slow down, take time to reflect and to see the beauty in
every day. And to finally, thoroughly, live every moment in our own
lives. Amen to that.
